Our 2019 volleyball student-athletes have already shown a great amount of promise this season, starting the season strong with a beneficial pre-season and practice routines. Over the final month of summer break, open gym practices have been held every day from 5-7 p.m..

“Open gyms definitely get you looked at by the coaches,” says returning Volleyball player, Destiny Zepeda. “It helps you build a connection as a team and get better.”

Coach Voyles says, ”Our motto this year is ‘Win the Day,’ so we’re just taking each day at a time.” Ula Pousima, a four-year volleyball athlete, says she plans to ‘Win the Day’ by “keeping up with [her] academics, attendance, and just pushing hard.”

“First, it starts in the classroom,”  adds Coach Voyles, “so were going to have mandatory study halls. Secondly, just making sure we have productive practices every day.”

The first game of the season starts next Tuesday, August 27 on our home court. Be sure to come support our lady hawks as they take on the Douglas Tigers with Freshman @ 3:45 pm, JV @ 5 pm, and Varsity @ 6 pm.
